We are now demonstrating our Voice System on demo.verbol.com.
Please visit Brian's ibook identity on our demo site demo.verbol.com where there are
instructions on how to reach me on a free VOIP call, during which each
of us can elect to record what we say with links appearing in a web
page. We also can call my Voicechat extension instead of each other
where we can leave messages and hear them play back so we can have
voice conversations without needing to be on a call at the same time.
We
communicate at least 10 times as much information by voice as we do by
text, but then we lose most of it. Now we have the technology to retain
and re-utilise as
much of our speech as we wish to. I propose a Personal System
Cooperative with its first objective to help us package, distribute and
support the technology so as to make voice communications as ubiquitous
as text communications.
An updated source code for Verbol Web Server V3 supplemented by Voice System and matching the features in the demo system will be
available for download soon. There are many improvements we could make
and I am writing to suggest how we might work together cooperatively to achieve this.
COOPY
Family Systems and I are are publishing our inventions as CC+COOPY and we invite you to cooperate. The sites linked to are a work in progress and may evolve as you review them. We are originating cooperative opportunities which we call COOPYtunities for all our inventions.
We would like your thoughts and feedback. To get in touch, please use the demo above or email br@verbol.com.
Background
After a number of years of beavering away in research I am ready to develop a new enterprise or partner with others of like mind, and am beginning to ready my ideas for publication. The culmination of all my work experience in the computer industry, from my start as a programmer and then system design consultant, through the creation and success of Micro Focus, to the experience of Family Systems, is embodied in the inventions we are publishing now.
We are introducing a licensing innovation COOPY presently implementing as CC+COOPY, several inventions listed below, and bring a lot of "know-how" into our cooperative partnerships.
In particular we have been working on ideas, inventions and testing prototypes in the area of personal systems. With the help of several consultants to Family Systems Ltd, we have created a portolio of filed and some issued patents, listed at Family Systems patent filings. We also have created a number of software prototypes, notably Verbol Web Server, Audio Recorder, Mysharer, Voicechat.
With the success of the free Google Apps web service, we are in process of reimplementing Verbol Web Server V4 using Google Apps as the base. I have also found myself using Skype and a call recorder from Ecamm and am looking for help in scanning such recordings as they are made and creating Voicechat conversations in association with gmail.
Family Systems owns the intellectual property derived from my system design work and our inventions include Web Collaboration with Voicechat, Play Along, Ibook System, and Health Tracking. We are open to cooperatively partnering separately on each invention, partnering on them all together, and/or creating a business enterprise to develop them.
Publishing status
All the documents linked to from this letter are published on the Web. They are still under construction so I regard them as a preview and have not yet publicised their existance. They are all licenced as CC+COOPY which adds commercial licenses in particular COOPYshare to free Creative Commons non-commercial licenses.
I view COOPY as a commercial add-on to open source and so I am also willing to consider licensing our inventions to GPL implementations.
I look forward to your feedback on these ideas and suggestions and our further discussion by email to br@verbol.com. Skype can be arranged in advance.
A personal note
Jamaica is a wonderful country and people with terrible problems, like too much of the world. Please also urgently cooperate on public safety supported openly through our collective personal systems. We need it here in Jamaica and as it won't work unless everyone has it, I request that we cooperatively work out how to ensure everyone in Jamaica has a mobile device that is able to participate fully and safely in a web based global watch.
